A rare and wholesome vathal, Unnithandu is made from banana stem strips that are sun-dried and stored for year-round use. Slightly fibrous and rich in nutrients, it is usually added to kuzhambu or poriyal for its unique texture and detoxifying properties. This is village wisdom preserved in edible form.
